News On Our New Hospital

Children, Young People and Family Engagement - What you have told us

The Children, Young People and Family Advisory Board have over the past couple of months undertaken a number of initiatives to seek the views of children, young people and their families. We had a stall at the Street Fair, where we had a Poster Display providing an overview of the project, as well as the opportunity for those attending to both speak to key staff about the project and also 'roving reporters' who asked specific questions. The Wishing Well where people were able to put their 'wish' for the new hospital proved very popular.

So far the things that we have been told include: -
· Access to outside green space
· More space in the wards and departments
· Separate ward and facilities for young people
· Internet access for young people
· Designated areas for parents on the wards
· Good Play / Recreational Facilities for children and young people
· Good public transport links and accessible and affordable parking

All of the information we receive from our various initiatives is being used to inform the Outline Business Case - the next formal document which will be submitted to the Scottish Executive at the beginning of 2008

Clinical Redesign
The staff, patients and families have been busy planning how services can be improved and how they will be delivered from 2012 onwards. This work is looking at a wide range of services, and we are keen to hear of your experiences of services in the hospital, including how we support families through bereavement. Your experiences are valuable to us in ensuring that we can provide the very best going forward. If you wish to find out more on this, please contact Maureen Harrison on 0131 668 4949 or e-mail

RHSC, Sciennes site history
We are also hoping to capture the memories of staff and patients, past and present in a final publication of the history of the hospital on the present site - if you would like to share your memories, please contact Maureen Harrison on 0131 668 4949 or e-mail
