Sick Kids Street Fair 2008

Over £3000 raised

On behalf of everyone at the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in making our Street Fair 2008 a great success.

If you were able to come along to the Fair you will know what a gorgeous day we were blessed with.  Our prayers really were answered!  Grant Stott promised to bring along the sunshine as well as launch the event and he was true to his word!  Thanks again Grant.

The Fair kicked off with an energetic performance from the Oxgangs Bellettes Cheerleading Squad, followed by the soothing sounds of Polwarth Brass Band.  Everyone was invited to join in Stripping the Willow with the Royal Scottish Country Dancing Society and finally, singer, 13-year-old Jack Robertson stole the show and everyone’s hearts with his wonderful performance which included songs from the Lion King.  Radio Lollipop very kindly hosted the fair with the support of Chaplin’s Disco and provided some much needed music

There were a fantastic selection of stalls on offer, courtesy of our hospital wards and volunteers, including yummy homemade cakes and candies, pretty plants, face painting and lots of games to take part in and prizes to be won!  Throw the sponge at the Physio proved very popular!  A puppet making workshop and storytelling provided a little added entertainment for the children.  Experts from Lyon and Turnbull joined us to provide an antique valuation stall.  Thank you to everyone who brought along their valuables.

We hope a fun day out was had by all.  Once again, our sincere thanks go out to everyone who gave of the own time and talents to help make our Street Fair 2008 possible.  We really appreciate your support, which helped us to raise just under £3,500.
