Council of Sick Kids Friends Foundation
The purpose of the Council is to develop strategy for the organisation, to elect the trustees, to act as Ambassadors for the charity and to provide expertise to assist staff members in their roles. It consists of the Trustees of the charity plus extra members who are recruited from the public through an open appointments system.
Grant Macrae
Grant Macrae is a Director of KPMG and involved in Public Sector Audit. As well as solid experience in the running of organisations and charity law and accounting, he has also experienced the hospital as a parent.
Bryan Christie
Bryan Christie is a freelance health writer and media consultant. He has long admired the high quality of services provided by staff at the hospital and is pleased to be able to support their efforts, through serving on the Council.
Stephanie Donaldson
Stephanie Donaldson has experienced the hospital as a parent and has been involved with fundraising for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation for many years, principally with the bi-annual Postcards for Sick Kids event.
Alan Donaldson
Alan Donaldson is an audit partner with Scott-Moncrieff Chartered Accountants and acts for a broad range of clients. As a parent of two sons who have benefited from the medical attention provided by the hospital and its staff, his financial skills will be of assistance in supporting the Sick Kids Friends Foundation. Alan is a mamber of the Audit Committee.
Michael Dow
Michael Dow is a recently retired Investment Manager with experience in identifying and delivering long-term strategies to a broad range of investors including charities.
His interest in the Sick Kids Friends Foundation stems from contact with the hospital during the treatment of a family member. Michael is a member of the audit committee.
Malcolm Graham
Malcolm Graham is a senior police officer with Lothian and Borders Police, currently Head of the CID for Lothian and Borders Police. He had some previous fundraising experience before joining the Council in 2007, and is involved in both the Fundraising and Community Working Groups.
Deborah Hood
Deborah Hood was Head of Marketing for Martin Currie Investment Management Ltd until the end of 2008. She joined the Council in 2007 after taking part in fund-raising activities as a volunteer and wished to become involved on a more formal level.
Sally Lee
Sally Lee is the Child health commissioner for NHS Lothian responsible for the development of strategy, policy and delivery of children's services in both hospital and the Community. She has recently joined Council and her broad overview of children's services will be invaluable as we develop new Sick Kids Friends Foundation projects.
Mark Little
Mark Little is an Investment banker, currently Scottish Director of Barclay's Wealth Management. He is Chair of the Audit Committee.
Gordon MacKinlay
Gordon Mackinlay's interest in charitable input at the hospital is no secret, as he was involved in setting up the TASK Appeal to build the New Wing. As a surgeon he is very pleased that we have the most advanced keyhole surgery operating theatre system, OR1, in place and he sees the new CT scanner as highly significant as it provides much more precise images which are so vital to assist theatre staff.
Isabel McCallum
Isabel McCallum ‘s past position as Director of Nursing for NHS Lothian formed a vital link with the wider hospitals community and she was able to advise the Council of the strategic direction in the whole of NHS Lothian acute hospital services, including the children's hospital. Now as Project Director for Reprovision of the hospital she is working with staff in all disciplines to plan what is needed in the new hospital.
David Reith
David Reith, Council Member and Chairman of the Trustees, is a solicitor with a long-standing involvement in the Scottish charity sector. He is Managing Partner of Lindsays Solicitors and contributes both management and charity law skills in his role at Sick Kids. He is married with two children, both of whom have benefitted from care at the Sick Kids Hospital in the past, hence his enthusiasm to be involved.
Judith Sischy
As a mum and as Director of Education for the Independent Schools in Scotland, Judith is aware that nothing is more important than the health and well being of children and young people. She wishes to encourage everyone to support the work and development of the Sick Kids, especially as the new hospital becomes a reality on the ground.
Lady Stewart
Lady Stewart is a housewife, mother, grandmother and former primary school teacher, so knows a bit about children. She first got involved through helping with fundraising through the Carols for Christmas Concert and also assisted in planning of the Girly Get Together event, and attends all the Council meetings. She was particularly interested in our plans for Family Accommodation and the Drop In Centre.
Lizzie Watson
Lizzie Watson works with Cluttons Private Finance, having been with Adam & Company private bank for 5 years prior. She feels it is important to give something back to the community in which she lives and works.
Suzanne Wilson
Suzanne Wilson is a Trustee, member of the Fundraising Working group and lawyer with Scottish Power, as well as a very busy mother of three.
