Trustees
The Trustees are responsible for the governance and running of the activities of the charity. They meet at least every two months to take reports of progress against objectives, assess applications for funding and monitor the fulfilment of the strategy for the organisation.
David Reith
David Reith is the managing partner at the law firm Lindsays. David is Chair of the Trustee Board for Sick Kids Friends Foundation.
Grant Macrae
Grant Macrae, is a Director of KPMG LLP with a variety of audit clients and involved in Public Sector Audit. As well as solid experience in the running of organisations and charity law and accounting, he has also experienced the hospital as a parent.
Caroline Connellan
Caroline Connellan is UK Customer Services Director at Standard Life, following a number of years as Group Strategy Director. Prior to this Caroline was at McKinsey in London where she consulted to financial services companies. She is CFA qualified and spent the start of her career with Newton Investment Management as a Private Client Fund Manager. Caroline brings her strategy and financial expertise to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation and has also experienced the hospital as a parent. Caroline lives in Edinburgh and is married with 3 sons.
Alan Donaldson
Alan Donaldson is an audit partner with Scott-Moncrieff Chartered Accountants and acts for a broad range of clients. As a parent of two sons who have benefited from the medical attention provided by the hospital and its staff, his financial skills will be of assistance in supporting the Sick Kids Friends Foundation. Alan became an SKFF trustee in January 2010. Alan is a member of the Audit Committee.
Stephanie Donaldson
Stephanie Donaldson has experienced the hospital as a parent and has been involved with fundraising for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation for many years, principally with the bi-annual Postcards for Sick Kids event.
Michael Dow
Michael Dow is a recently retired Investment Manager with experience in identifying and delivering long-term strategies to a broad range of investors including charities.
His interest in the Sick Kids Friends Foundation stems from contact with the hospital during the treatment of a family member. Michael became an SKFF trustee in January 2010. Michael is Chair of the Audit Committee.
Deborah Hood
Deborah Hood was Head of Marketing for Martin Currie Investment Management Ltd until the end of 2008. She joined the Council in 2007 after taking part in fund-raising activities as a volunteer and wished to become involved on a more formal level.
Paul Leonard
I have been a consultant in Emergency Medicine at both the Sick Kids and at St. John's Hospital for the last six years. I have seen the difference that the Sick Kids Friends Foundation makes to the children and parents who attend the hospital. I also have four children, all of whom have attended the hospitals and benefitted from the facilities provided by the Foundation. I have become involved with the Foundation to help ensure that this good work continues.
Isabel McCallum
Isabel McCallum's past position as Director of Nursing for Lothian University Hospitals Trust formed a vital link with the wider hospitals community and she was able to advise the former Council of the strategic direction in the whole of NHS Lothian acute hospital services, including the children's hospital. Prior to her recent retirement, as Clinical Director for Reprovision of the hospital she was working with staff of all disciplines and other stakeholders to plan what is needed in the new children's hospital in Edinburgh. Isabel became a SKFF Trustee in October 2010.
Gordon MacKinlay
Gordon MacKinlay, Consultant surgeon, is one of the senior members of staff at the hospital. He is a paediatric laparoscopic surgeon who has pioneered many new forms of surgery. He is currently President of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and was recently awarded an OBE for his work at the hospital.
Lady Stewart
Lady Stewart is a housewife, mother, grandmother and former primary school teacher, so knows a bit about children. She first got involved through helping with fundraising through the Carols for Christmas Concert and also assisted in planning of the Girly Get Together event. She was particularly interested in our plans for Family Accommodation and the Drop In Centre. Lady Stewart became an SKFF trustee in January 2010.
Suzanne Wilson
Suzanne Wilson is a lawyer with Scottish Power. She serves on the Fundraising working group and advises on legal and human relations matters.
Lizzie Watson
Lizzie Watson works for Handelsbanken in Edinburgh as a Private Banker, having been with Adam & Company private bank for 5 years prior. She feels it is important to give something back to the community in which she lives and works. Lizzie became a SKFF Trustee in October 2010 and she is also a member of the Audit Committee.
