Spotlight On... Brian Ostrowski

A fundraising stalwart, Brian has supported the Sick Kids for many years.

What is the most important thing that life has taught you?

Life has taught me that you should treat everyone the same way as you want to be treated, life is too short not to make some kind of impact in life, so if you can make someone happy, make them smile then do it, the cost is zero and the feel good factor to everyone involved is amazing.

How do you relax?

I relax by taking my two dogs for walks also i love to cycle and go running, this time spent allows me to be in a world of my own and not think about all the troubles in the world, I also like meeting up with old friends and finding out what they have been up to.

Happiness is...

Being happy with your days doings, if you can lay your head on the pillow at the end of a day and feel satisfied then that gives me happiness.

Guilty pleasure?

Chocolate biscuits, I blame Carol my wife for buying them, i've got to blame someone.

What is your most treasured possession?

Pictures of my daughter Stephanie and a lock of her hair.

What living person do you most admire?

That's a tough one, I admire all Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons who do such an amazing job helping young children in the Sick Kids Hospital, not forgetting all the support staff. Sorry i cant give you one person.

Why did you decide to support the Royal Hospital for Sick Children?

In 2000 our Daughter Stephanie was diagnosed with Cancer, it was a Brain Tumour, a year later she lost the battle and passed away in 2001 aged 9. Since then I have supported Maureen and her team who are all just amazing, Maureen and the team supported our family when we needed support, now it's our turn to do a little bit to make life just that little bit easier for parents and sick children.

How do you make a difference?

I think we make a difference by showing people that there is support out there, and that we do care and we are determined in making the hospital a better, caring supporting place for everyone.

Why should people get involved?

Because it's for our children, what better reason.
