Award for Sick Kids Teddy Toddle
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation Teddy Toddle was the outright winner in the Community Fundraising Scotland category at the Institute of Fundraising Scotland awards presented on Monday evening at Dunblane Hilton Hydro. The Teddy Toddle, sponsored by Stewart Saunders Estate Agents which raised over £12,000 was held in June 2005 at Meadowbank with 200 toddlers under the age of five taking part in the event. Edie McCreadie from Balamory and 4 year old ex-patient Paige Allan started the toddlers on their 150m walk with their favourite teddy bear!
The Award, sponsored by Powell Print, was presented by Olivia Giles to Carolyn Thornton and Joanne Barkey of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation in recognition of the success and popularity of the event.
Director of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, Maureen Harrison said, "Carolyn and Joanne succeeded in doubling the numbers of children in the Teddy Toddle this year and raising nearly three times as much as our previous record in the event's four year history. They did a great job and we are proud to have won this award, but we would never have been able to achieve it without all the lovely toddlers who took part and the tremendous sponsorship they achieved. And the real winners really are the children who will benefit from the funds raised by the event!
