A Statement from the Sick Kids Friends Foundation in response to recent media coverage.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation has been in existence for very many years with an enviable track record of making a difference to the health and welfare of children and families in the Lothians and beyond. It has received huge community support.

In recent years it has raised more than a million pounds on an annual basis to provide facilities such as specialised medical equipment, a family drop in centre, parent accommodation, together with a multitude
of other successful initiatives.

Much groundwork has been done and taking account of our past annual fundraising achievements, we are now well placed to deliver one third of our original financial objective in regard to the new hospital. We fully expect to achieve the balance over the coming period.

Any campaign requires refocusing and reassessment from time to time in order to pursue its objectives. The Sick Kids Friends Foundation is no different from any other organisation particularly in the current economic climate.

We have however the support, the reputation, the momentum and the skills to deliver our contribution to what we are certain will be an outstanding new facility.

We are currently in discussions with all of our stakeholders as to the best way to move forward with the New Pyjamas campaign. At this point, we cannot, for reasons of confidentiality, comment on any specific matters relating to employees.

We remain focused on reaching the £15m target, giving Edinburgh a new, world-class kids’ hospital and continuing to help make the Sick Kids even better.
