Do You Enjoy Gaming? Join the Sick Kids Save Point
Gaming enthusiasts, unite for a cause! The Sick Kids Save Point is more than just a 24-hour gaming sprint; it's a heartfelt commitment to the welfare of children in need. This marathon, organized on behalf of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, is scheduled to take place from October 7-9. If you’re passionate about gaming and charity, this event is calling your name!
Participation is Just a Few Steps Away
Are you confident in your endurance and gaming skills? If you're over 18 and believe you can tackle a full day of gaming, participating is a breeze. Just ensure you've read the essential tips and safety guidelines, and pick your preferred starting slot — for instance, 7pm Friday to 7pm Saturday.
Team Up for Good Fun and a Good Cause
For our younger gamers under 18, health comes first, and staying up for a day straight is not recommended. However, there's a fun alternative — form a team! Gather a group of friends and divide the time among you, like a relay of kindness that ripples through the gaming community. Picture this: four friends, six hours each, throughout one weekend. It's that simple, and every second counts towards a noble endeavor.
Raising Funds and Connecting with the Community
Getting involved is easy - set up a fundraising page on Just Giving, and update the Sick Kids Save Point Team via the SKSP blog. This central hub along with updates on Twitter and Facebook will keep you integrated with the gaming marathons’ community and fellow philanthropists.
Regular Check-Ins to Sustain the Momentum
Staying engaged is key. For adult gamers taking on the challenge, it's required to touch base with the SKSP team every three hours through the blog, Twitter, or Facebook. This ensures not only accountability but also shared experiences and sustained energy.
Inspiration from a Champion of the Cause
Owen McAdam steps up as both a gamer and a champion for the cause. His personal story connects deeply with the mission of Sick Kids, having witnessed the lifesaving care they provide. With his sister's insider perspective on the incredible work at the hospital, and the miraculous recovery of his friend’s child, Owen’s engagement encapsulates the event's essence and its impact.
Building on Success: Sick Kids Save Point 2011
The previous Sick Kids Save Point in 2010 was a triumph, amassing over £7,000 with participants including Rockstar North. As we gear up for 2011, the challenge is straightforward: let’s elevate this initiative to new heights, forging an unforgettable legacy of support and community spirit.
Travel and Gaming: A Journey for the Heart
While the Sick Kids Save Point may be a stationary 24-hour journey of gaming, it parallels the impactful voyages we embark upon through travel. Each game played transports participants to new worlds, all while grounding them firmly in the heartwarming reality of helping sick children. This marvelous venture allows gamers to traverse virtual realms in solidarity, demonstrating how every person can become a traveler on a profound quest — a journey that excites the imagination, touches the soul, and embarks on a mission to heal.
